Salpost is a state-owned company established by the Government of Sierra Leone and is responsible for managing and operating all the country's postal services. All postal services in Sierra Leone are managed by Salpost corporate monopoly, which acquired these rights through legislation passed by the government. For this reason, the country's postal services only operate through Salpost infrastructure and logistics network. 
Sierra Leone's postal services date back centuries before its independence. Since its inception, the postal correspondence service has undergone many changes, which have resulted in ups and downs in quality. Since the establishment of the first general mail and telegraph department, the country's postal services have undergone significant changes, which have not improved since the beginning of Sierra Leone's civil war.

At present, due to the enormous challenge in the competitive postal market, Salpost has had serious difficulties with its international postal services. For this reason, the company, with the support of the government and the Ministry of Information and Communication, has decided to develop and implement some services such as Internet service or money transfer and exchange services. In this way, the company has managed to keep offering services to the public for the last 15 years.

How can I track a Salpost package?

Users can make use of the Salpost Sierra Leone tracking service just by entering its official website. Once inside the website, users will be able to use an electronic tool that facilitates the process of tracking and locating packages or postal correspondence.
The Salpost tracking electronic system can only be used by the user 12 days after he has finished the shipping and delivery procedures. Therefore, this system is only available for tracking and tracing international deliveries. Also, users must request the tracking number or code, which is necessary to make effective the process of tracking and tracing.

However, for those deliveries of post or parcels at the national level, the approximate delivery time is 2 to 5 working days. With the use of the EMS service, the approximate delivery time is 1 to 2 working days. 
The Salpost shipping time may vary due to several infrastructure factors that the company always takes into consideration before determining the delivery time and vary according to the final destination.

• To other countries in the African continent, the approximate delay is 2 to 3 weeks.
• To European countries, the approximate delivery time is 3 to 4 weeks.
• For countries like the United States or Mexico, the approximate delivery time is 4 to 5 weeks.
• For countries in Asia and South America, the approximate delivery time is also 4 to 5 weeks.

Is Salpost expensive?

Salpost shipping fees can change constantly because the company occasionally makes changes in the price of its rates. According to the latest price list published by the company through the Ministry of Information and Communication, the average costs are the following:

• For national deliveries is 6 to 8 dollars.
• For deliveries to other countries in Africa, the average cost of the delivery service is 39 dollars.
• To countries in North America, South America, and Asia, the approximate price is 56 dollars.
• The average cost of delivery services to countries in Europe, such as the United Kingdom, is 45 dollars.

It is important to mention that the users will only be able to process the shipments and deliveries of postal orders, attending personally to any of the postal offices of the country.
